Cover: The eukaryotic Elongator complex specifically modifies tRNAs at their wobble base position. Elongator consists of two copies of six highly conserved subunits Elp1 to Elp6. As shown in this artistic representation a model of the Elongator complex obtained by an integrated structure biology approach is placed into a low resolution negative stain electron microscopy map. Interestingly, the Elongator complex shows an asymmetric assembly where one hexameric Elp456 subcomplex binds to only one of the two Elp123 lobes.
